Top female musicians to play Wanawake Xperience gig in Soweto
Southern African musicians Berita, Amanda Black, Thiwe Mbola, Azola and Miss Pru will perform at the Wanawake Xperience music and lifestyle showcase at Disoufeng Pub and Restaurant in Soweto on 15 May.
The event is the brainchild of the five musicians who have positioned it as an empowerment platform for upcoming female artists and creatives. The organisers want to use the self-funded event to inspire and unite women from the industry.
Each edition will feature a different line-up of female artists alongside an emerging artist to help them grow their audience. The service providers for the event will be women working in different fields of the music industry, with the objective of creating a lifestyle event for women who can come together in a safe space and network, while enjoying proudly South African music.
“What excites me about this event is the collaborative effort between us five ladies,” Berita said. “We are learning and growing from each other. We are very excited to perform together and grow this movement of women supporting each other and working together in the music industry.”
Thiwe Mbola said: “We definitely believe this platform will encourage more collaborations among female artists and I am most excited about the new talent we will be unearthing on the Wanawake Xperience stage.”
The five musicians will be supported by Mo’soul, DJ Young, Soul Spice, Carbie K, Archie, Bongsta and Black Pat.
The show will begin at 1pm. Purchase tickets here.
