TuneCore artists getting distribution channel to Beatport
TuneCore has announced a new partnership with Beatport to enable TuneCore artists to distribute their songs to the electronic music platform.
Electronic music is a top genre among TuneCore artists, and the deal, which coincides with recent Beatport initiatives to offer a variety of tools and support to DIY artists via its Music Services division, will take effect in May.
Through the new partnership, artists utilising any of TuneCore’s unlimited distribution plans will be able to send their music to the Beatport platform for an add-on fee of $7.99 a month, which will be billed annually.
The companies said this would allow artists to get their music in front of Beatport’s robust user base of electronic music fans, tastemakers and professional DJs, as well as the platform’s in-house curation team.
TuneCore artists sending music to Beatport will also get access to a comprehensive collection of genre tags among independent distributors.
“Through this new partnership with Beatport, TuneCore is excited to offer comprehensive distribution options for our electronic artists around the world, and give them access to a direct pipeline from their recording studio to the vibrant world of clubs, festivals and radio, as well as the potential for additional promotional opportunities through Beatport’s DJ Charts and renowned editorial features,” TuneCore CEO Andreea Gleeson said.
Beatport CEO Robb McDaniels said: “As the number of music creators around the world continues to accelerate, enabling TuneCore’s customers to easily upload their music to Beatport is an important way for us to nurture new talent in the dance music space. We’re thrilled to be working closely with Andreea and her team to help empower the next generation of DJs, producers and artists.”
Talent search
TuneCore, and its electronic music-focused imprint b:electronic, will be kicking off a talent search to discover and promote up-and-coming electronic music artists and producers.
Submissions will be open via a dedicated LabelRadar portal for artists currently distributed by TuneCore, and will be evaluated by an experienced and diverse panel of judges, consisting of producers, DJs and industry professionals.
Selected winners will receive funding to aid their growth and career development. TuneCore will begin distributing music to Beatport in early May, and the submission window for the talent competition will open at that time, with additional details to be announced on TuneCore’s social media channels.
