Ugandan DJ to raise funds for sports foundation
DJ Rachael will host various DJs and percussionists at the Rapture Warehouse Rave to raise funds for the Sports Edutainment and Health for Us Foundation (SETH) in Kampala, Uganda, on 8 September.
Last year’s inaugural edition of the rave was held to celebrate DJ Rachael’s 20 years in the electronic music scene. This year’s event will donate 10% of all gate proceeds to SETH, a local NGO established to coach, promote and empower the next generation to live healthy, safe and inspiring lives through sports in Uganda.
“We are not just celebrating our achievements as artists on this night,” DJ Rachael said. “As a DJ I also want to support those who are underprivileged in our society. Leading a healthy lifestyle is vital to each one of us and this is why we believe in the cause led by SETH foundation.”
The Rapture Warehouse Rave will host Kenyan DJs Monroe Marcus, Cheek-o-Dread and Shock. Ugandan artists on the bill are Hola Jefe, Sound Engine, Kastimo, who is a renowned keyboardist now venturing into deejaying, and percussionist Alfonkodee. Confirmed international acts are Spain’s Collective Moto Kiatu, the UK’s Aleczandah and Joe Greenbaum from the US.
DJ Rachael, who is the co-founder of Femme Electronic , recently returned from a tour in Europe where she performed at several festivals such as Etnosur in Alcala la Real, Spain, Florence Folks in Italy and Festival der Kulturen in Augsburg, Germany, among others.
Tickets to the Rapture Warehouse Rave are retailing for 30 000 Ugandan shillings ($8). For more information and ticket inquiries, click here.
