Watch Mi Casa’s Mamela video
South African house trio Mi Casa have released their new video ‘Mamela’.
The video dropped on YouTube and is taken off their latest album We Made It, which is available for streaming here. It was directed by Katya Abedian and produced by Allison Swank and Sazi Mbalekwa, with Jono Kyriakou and JP Turvey as camera operators.
“The music video had my wife and I in tears,” Mi Casa singer J'Something told Music In Africa. “It speaks to us so much, reminds us of what we’ve been through and of how we pushed through hardships. It was shot outside Johannesburg on a beautiful farm and it tells a touching story of a young couple facing some life-threatening issues, yet they remained together, strong, fighting for one another. They live out their dreams and have this ‘never give up’ attitude that I believe is so crucial in love.”
J'Something added: “Love always wins, but it comes with hardships, trials, challenges, whatever you want to call them, but there are some serious mountains to climb. If you want to reach the pinnacle of love, you have to push through all of these in order to win. Winning isn’t easy, it takes a lot of sacrifice, patience and hard work. This video tells a beautiful story of all this for me.”
The ‘Mamela’ comes off the back of the highly successful ‘Eve’. Both songs are off the 13-track We Made It, an album that celebrates the band’s 10 years in the music industry. It adds to Mi Casa's list of impressive achievements this year, including an international recording deal with Afroforce1 Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group Africa.
We Made It can also be streamed and downloaded here.
