Yemi Alade to release 'Mama Afrique' EP
Nigerian pop act Yemi Alade has announced plans to release an extended play record in 2017.
The EP comes after the success of her last studio album, Mama Africa, which won the singer several awards last year, and spawned the hit single ‘Africa’ with Kenyan band Sauti Sol. The album also had the single ‘Tumbum Tumbum’. The EP will lead to her as yet unnamed third studio album.
The singer announced the news on social media, saying the forthcoming collection will have remixes and remakes of songs from the Mama Africa album and a number of new songs.
A statement from the artist reads, “Yemi Alade is set to release an EP titled "Mama Afrique (The Extended Play)", ahead of the arrival of her third studio album which is expected in 2017. The project is a continuation of her acclaimed sophomore album, "Mama Africa (The Diary of an African Woman)"; and will house new songs, remixes and remakes of original songs on the Mama Africa album.”
The statement was posted along with a photo announcing the release of the French version of the song ‘Ferrari’. And if the singer’s penchant for singing songs in various languages continues, the new project will contain a few songs in languages other English.
This year has seen the release of a few videos starring Ms Alade including on songs by Bez and Awilo Longomba, and the lady's own solo tune ‘Sugar n Spice’, which you can watch below:
