Call for submissions: Ghana DJ Awards 2020
The organisers of the 2020 Ghana DJ Awards are calling for entries ahead of the eighth edition in Accra on 21 November.
The annual ceremony is organised by event production company Merqury Republic to recognise and celebrate the country’s most influential professional DJs at work today.
This year, the scheme has introduced new categories including the Young DJ of the Year and Best Student DJ awards. Additionally, there will be a special award for DJs who have been highly impactful during the COVID-19 lockdown period.
Ahead of this year’s main event, the organisers have also planned a workshop for DJs and other industry stakeholders on 20 November.
Speaking to Music In Africa about the goal of the workshop, Ghana DJ Awards CEO Merqury Quaye said: “We have been organising a programme which seeks to motivate and inspire DJs who have been doing amazing work over the years. However, what we haven’t done is to also impart knowledge to them. Unfortunately, there are no formal institutions that narrow in on the DJ profession, so this is an initiative to help improve the DJ culture and industry.”

Interested Ghanaian DJs or their representatives can submit an entry form along with a mixtape or two-minute video clips of their performance. Applicants must also include professional photographs of the DJ.
The applications can be emailed to ghanadjawards@gmail.com along with links to the mixtape or performance(s), or enclosed in an envelope addressed to:
