Call for applications: 2021 Marafiki Festival in Tanzania
The organisers of the Marafiki Festival are accepting applications from African musicians ahead of the event in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, between 7 and 9 October 2021.
The festival is sponsored by Tanzanian cultural organisation Asedeva and seeks to discover new talent, expand Tanzania's scene by promoting African musicians playing live music and providing capacity-building for artists through workshops.
The first edition was held this year with a line-up including Wamwiduka Band, Isack Abeneko, Msafiri Zawose and Siti and the Band, among others.
Requirements
A press kit complete with:
- Images.
- Video links.
- Featured articles (if any).
- Music links on SoundCloud.
- Technical rider.
How to apply
Applications are open to all artists playing live music. To apply, interested candidates can send all the aforementioned requirements to wekamusicrecords@gmail.com.
Marafiki Festival will provide the following to selected artists:
- Accommodation.
- Per diem.
- Performance fee.
- Radio and TV interviews.
- Venue for showcases.
- Equipment for performances.
- All local travel related to the show.
Bands that are not based in Tanzania will be required to take care of their own travel costs. Marafiki Festival will supply a letter to assist in securing mobility funding at the request of the applicant.
