SA’s Luka Pryce inks Def Jam Recordings deal
South African rapper Luka Pryce has signed with Def Jam Recordings Africa.
He joins Boity, Cassper Nyovest, Nadia Nakai, Nasty C, Tshego, Tellaman, Ricky Tyler, Larry Gaaga, Lucasraps, Stogie T and Vector, who are all signed to the Universal Music Group imprint.
The announcement coincides with the release of his single ‘Mbeki’, which is available for streaming and download.
The track features Soulful Clay and Lok. Luka Pryce said: “It feels too surreal, I can’t explain how I feel because this is something I’ve been waiting for since I started my career. I didn’t expect it to come so soon, so when it did, I couldn’t believe it until I got the paperwork and then it actually sank in. I feel blessed, overwhelmed at the same time it’s crazy.”
Luka Pryce, born Lwazi Nzunza in Durban, is not a stranger to the local hip hop scene. In 2020, he released his debut EP Detour prior to his collaboration with Reason and Junior De Rocka on a single called ‘88’. The song earned him recognition in the music scene and saw him writing ‘Practice’, a song by Nadia Nakai.
