SA: Uncle Waffles added to Galaxy 947 Move line-up
South African amapiano DJ Uncle Waffles has been added to the Samsung Galaxy 947 Move music festival set to take place at Prime View Adventure and Leisure in Olifantsfontein, Johannesburg, on 4 and 5 November.
Born Lungelihle Zwane, Uncle Waffles has become a formidable force in the amapiano community. She is best known for her official debut single ‘Tanzania’ taken off her EP Red Dragon. She has shared the stage with Africa’s biggest names including Davido and Wizkid, and has attracted the attention of some of the world’s biggest names in music.
The event boasts two days of live performances. Day one is themed Flex Your Friday and will see Uncle Waffles join previously announced top local DJs including Kabza De Small, Sun EL Musician, Tay Flavour, Prince Kaybee and Chrizz Beatz.
Day two aims to offer festivalgoers an immersive music experience by mostly South African bands. The organisers said the event “captures the spirit of Joburg” featuring performances by acts such as Nasty C, Mi Casa, Shekhinah, Jesse Clegg, Musa Keys, Matthew Mole, Zakes Bantwini, Blxckie, Cassper Nyovest, and more.
Formerly called Huawei Joburg Day, this year’s edition saw local media giant Primedia partner with Samsung Galaxy to host the event under a new name.
The event was first announced in August. At the time, 947 station manager Ravi Naidoo said: “This is such a fantastic line-up and there’s more to come. We’re excited to bring this phenomenal event to all who love Joburg and we are returning the love by giving the community the very best that local music and talent has to offer in a two-day bumper event – Galaxy 947 Move.”
