Nigeria: Kido Madiba shares new single Attention

The Afrobeats number’s arrival follows his recent signing with Def Jam Africa as part of a “proactive mission” by the company to take the continent’s sounds to the world.”

Thematically, ‘Attention’, primarily sung in Nigerian pidgin, is inspired by love, stemming from a chaotic period in its author’s past romantic relationship. 

The 32-year-old singer, who is also an actor, holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and an MBA in international business from Cardiff Metropolitan University, Wales, UK. He boasts a catalogue of over 200 written songs, and his work listens as a fusion of Afrobeats and other pop genres.

“This artist has matured enough to bring thought and depth to his songwriting, immediately noticeable and perhaps one of the reasons he stands out as a player in the field so soon,” a statement reads. 

“Firmly taking his spot as one of the leaders in the Afrobeats genre, Kido Madiba has kept his head down, working hard on producing music that educates and entertains simultaneously, whilst delivering relatable connection through every beat.

Kido Madiba says he constantly strives to redefine his sound and diversify his creative process to create music that appeals across borders, adding that “the definitive idea of success is broad and sometimes fleeting, so I would rather aim for impact.”
