Wizkid to play Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra on 11 December
Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid will perform at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra, Ghana, on 10 December.
Dubbed 'Wizkid Live', the show, organised by Live Hub Entertainment, is the latest in the Grammy-winning musician’s ongoing tour, which will see him at the Madison Square Garden in the US and the Ziggo Dome Amsterdam in the Netherlands this month.
Live Hub Entertainment said the Wizkid concert forms part of a series of showcases aimed at “revolutionising the live music scene in Ghana and Africa.”
The company, which plans to bring other global superstars to Ghana and other key African cities, says it will announce supporting acts in due course. CEO Chris Okantey Jr. said initiatives like this would allow his outfit to be “inclusive of all areas of Ghanaian society and have a youth-focused social impact element to all our programmes”.
Wizkid’s return to the 40 000 capacity venue marks his second major show in Ghana in two years, after he headlined the Afrochella Festival at the El Wak Sports Stadium in Accra in 2021.
He will also perform songs off his fifth album More Love, Less Ego, due on 11 November featuring Ayra Starr, Don Toliver, Skepta, Naira Marley, Skillibeng and Shenseea. The album has been heralded by the singles ‘Bad To Me’ and ‘Money & Love’.
“I made this one with a lot of love,” Wizkid has said ahead of More Love, Less Ego release. “Special thanks to everyone that helped me put this together. You all got a special place in my heart.”
