Hazel Mak is an award winning recording artist originally from Malawi ‘The Warm Heart Of Africa’; deemed ‘Malawi Gold’ as described by The Nation news paper. Hazel is also the founder of a women's empowerment platform called Malawian Girls Rock a platform that focuses on empowering young women through providing a safe space for them to discuss issues that affect them; issues such as Forced/Child Marriages, Education and Career mentorship. She is also a brand ambassador for Trade Kings beauty and health product ‘Romeo Hygienix. soap’. She is known for her sensual vocals, catchy Afro house, and R ‘n’ B songs that represent the modern African empowered woman and representing Malawi on numerous occasions internationally.
Hazel began singing at the age of 11 performing for various events, today she has a repertoire of numerous projects with international artist sharing stages with the likes of Black Motion, Lady Zamar, Price Kaybee, Ammara Brown, Oliver Mtukudzi, Sauti Sol, Micasa and Freshly Ground. With her true Malawian - Brit style and inimitable attitude she made history in November 2018 when she grabbed the Best African Act in Diaspora Award for her track ‘Jaiva’ featuring Zambia’s Roberto and Tay Grin in this year’s All Africa Music Awards (Afrima) becoming the first Malawian to ever win an Afrima. She was one of three Southern African (Shekinah and Nasty C – both from South Africa) artist to have won an Afrima in 2018.
