Bio
Soul Kulture is a South African Afrosoul, pop and R&B duo, consisting of singer and songwriter Msekeli Velaphi (27) and Afeletsi Manamathela (26), who were discovered at Site C Taxi Rank, where it all began.
Msekeli and Afeletsi were friends from childhood they were both born and raised in Dutywa in the Eastern Cape and later moved to Cape Town 2013. In 2014 the duo began their music career whilst studying and became very popular in Cape Town for their soulful and melodic voices accompanied by guitar which reflected their love for soul music. They performed at the taxi rank, train station and local restaurants, which gave them great exposure and lending them bookings for private parties, wedding and local shows.
In November 2015, they were discovered at the taxi rank by their own Manager Lionel Jamela and were signed under Open Mic production.
The duo gained notable recognition in 2016 following the release of their debut album "Ngelinye'ilanga". Soul Kulture have performed at Moretele Park Tribute Concert in Mamelodi, Pretoria alongside Hugh Masekela, Don Laka, Letta Mbulu, Mafikizolo, Zonke, Nathi, Vusi Nova, Emtee, and Cassper Nyovest.
Soul Kulture's debut album Ngelinye'ilanga was nominated three times at the 2017 Metro Music Awards and bagged 1 of the categories they were nominated for at the SAMA's (Best African Adult album) in the same year.
Soul Kulture later released their second album "Uhambo" in 2020 which also won them an award for the "Best RNB/ Soul Album at the 2021 SAMA's, the album also surpassed more than a million streams on Spotify.
