Call for applications: Artistic fellowship in Berlin
The Berlin University of the Arts in Germany is calling on graduates in all artistic and scientific disciplines to apply for its fully funded international postgraduate studies programme in 2021.
The fellowship allows recipients to work intensively for two years on researching, producing and finalising their projects. Young female artists and scholars are encouraged to apply.
Interested individuals are asked to submit an artistic research project that can be completed within two years after commencement. The prospective project's starting date is 1 April 2021.
Recipients are also obliged to engage in teaching at the University of the Arts for a minimum of one semester within the duration of the fellowship.
Individuals in the following fields can apply:
- Music
- Performing arts
- Fine arts
- Architecture
- Media and design
The application deadline is 25 May 2020 (10am GMT+2).
Requirements
- CV, indicating a minimum of three years of artistic professional practice.
- Project presentation (one to two A4 pages, minimum font size 11).
- Copy of the university degree certificate (equivalent to a master's degree or diploma) or proof of outstanding artistic aptitude, which is proven by at least three years of successful professional experience in the form of relevant professional documents.
- Up to three work samples from your own artistic practice (online cross references are to be inserted as hyperlinks in the PDF).
- Letter of motivation (one to two A4 pages, minimum font size 11) in which you respond to the following questions:
- How would your professional career benefit from being granted this fellowship?
- What do you expect from the artistic-intellectual exchange among the scholarship holders of the graduate school?
- How do you see your contribution to this forum? How would you translate your artistic practice and central aspects of your research project into an idea for an interdisciplinary teaching concept?
- A short presentation video (four minutes max) in which you respond to the following questions in front of the camera:
- How do you understand your artistic work?
- In what contexts do you place your practice (artistic, social, historical)?
- What inspires you?
Upload the video to Vimeo and provide the link (and password if applicable) in the online application form.

Remuneration
Recipients will receive a €1 365 monthly stipend for the cost of materials and a child allowance, when relevant.
