Watch Fireboy DML's New York City Girl video

The mid-tempo song, which blends R&B and Afrobeats with his self-coined 'Afro-life' sound, was produced by Type-A and is the first single off his much-anticipated sophomore project Apollo – which is scheduled for release later this year.

The visuals document a romantic relationship between Fireboy and a girl from the Big Apple, whom he met while she was on vacation in Lagos, Nigeria. Written during the global lockdown, the song explores the feeling of missing the physical connection with someone you love.

This video is the artist's third release this year and follows 'Need You' and 'Vibration', which dropped in January and February respectively. The two songs are off Fireboy DML's 2019 debut album Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps.

Fireboy DML recently won in the Listener's Choice Award at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards.
