Call for entries: International Songwriting Competition 2020
The US-based International Songwriting Competition (ISC) is calling on all songwriters, musicians and performers from around the world to enter its 2020 edition.
- Dua Lipa is among the judges of the 2020 International Songwriting Competition.
The annual song contest seeks to provide the opportunity for both aspiring and established songwriters to have their songs heard in a professional, international arena.
“ISC is designed to nurture the musical talent of songwriters on all levels and promote excellence in the art of songwriting. Amateur and professional songwriters and musicians are invited to participate,” the ISC says.
“ISC has the most prestigious panel of judges of all the songwriting and music contests in the world, offering exposure and the opportunity to have your songs heard by the most influential decision-makers in the music industry."
ISC founder and director Candace Avery commented: “The panel of judges this year is an assemblage of some of the most successful and accomplished artists and influential music executives in the world. This offers entrants a unique platform to have their music listened to by the upper echelon of the music industry.”
Judges include international artists Dua Lipa, Coldplay, Bebe Rexha, Tom Waits, Cam, Arturo Sandoval, Linkin Park, Tanya Tucker, among many more, as well as music industry professionals from top record labels including Capitol, Sony, Roc Nation, Atlantic, Warner and Verve.
The deadline for entries is 16 September.
Participants of any age can submit entries in the following categories:
- Adult Album Alternative (AAA)
- Adult Contemporary (AC)
- Americana
- Blues
- Children's Music
- Christian
- Comedy/Novelty
- Country
- Electronic Dance Music (EDM)
- Folk/Singer-songwriter
- Instrumental
- Jazz
- Latin Music
- Lyrics Only
- Music Video
- Performance
- Pop/Top 40
- R&B/Hip Hop
- Rock
- Teen
- Unpublished
- Unsigned Only
- World Music
Entrants may submit as many songs as they wish – either in the same category or in multiple categories.
How to apply
Before completing the application form, entrants must:
- Read the FAQs.
- Pay $30 for every song submitted.
The winners will be awarded based on:
- Creativity.
- Originality.
- Lyrics (excludes songs that do not have lyrics).
- Melody.
- Arrangement.
- Overall likeability.
- Vocal ability.
Prizes
More than $150 000 in cash and merchandise will be shared among 71 successful applicants.
