Fuji star Pasuma set to release pop album
Nigerian artist Pasuma is set to release an album later this year. Perhaps the country’s most popular fuji singer of all time, Pasuma with the forthcoming album will be crossing over to the pop genre.

“The reason is simple,” said the 47-year old. “It is because hip-hop is currently trending. Besides, hip-hop is not a strange genre of music to me.
“I have been doing hip-hop for a while and I have collaborated with the pioneers of modern day hip-hop in Nigeria, speaking of people like Eedris Abdulkareem, Tuface, and 9ice. I sang ‘Jealousy’ with the Remedies in 1997, so it is not an unfamiliar terrain for me.”
Indeed, over the past few years Pasuma has featured in a number of music videos from mainstream pop artists, notably he had a cameo in the video for rapper Lil Kesh’s Shoki remix. He also contributed a chorus to rapper Olamide’s fourth studio album Street OT (2014).
Fittingly, Olamide takes a guest spot on Pasuma’s pop album which is to be called My World. Other guests on the 16-track album include reggae star Patoranking, rapper Phyno and singer Tiwa Savage.
“I decided to do a hip-hop album because my fans have been clamouring for it,” he added. “I have been on this project for about three years but could not complete it on time because of my busy schedule. I feel this is the right time to tidy everything up and release the album.”
My World is released under Wasbar Records, a label owned by the artist himself.
