Gabonese artist J-Rio to perform in Ghana
Gabonese R&B artist J-Rio (real name, Junior Sandza) will perform at a concert holding in the Ghanaian capital Accra 5 September. Joining him are a slew of young singers from the Congo, Ghana and other countries.
The concert, named Sors ça!, will be one of very few concerts in the West African country with a French-speaking artist headliner. Being an Anglophone country, Ghana has mostly English-speaking performers. Local language performances are common in the country as well. Not so for French language artists. It is to this end that Alliance Francaise Accra and Francophone students associations have partnered to bring this concert to the people of Accra.
Headliner J-Rio, lives in Houston, Texas and is originally from Gabon. A dancer and singer, J-Rio takes after the example of such American acts as Usher and Chris Brown and is inspired by the late Michael Jackson and 'You Remind Me' singer, Usher. He has a record deal with EarthQuake Entertainment.
The concert 'Sors ça!' will hold at the Alliance Française Accra. Tickets are GHC 35 ($9) for adults, GHC 17 ($4) for Aliance Française students and cultural members and free for children under 12. Couples will pay GHC 60 ($15) without membership and GHC 30 ($8) if both are members of the Alliance Française.
Update: The Sors ça! concert featuring J-Rio has been moved to 11 September, 2015.
