Tanzania to host the second edition of Karibu Music Festival
H_art the band, one of Kenya’s fastest rising music acts is set to introduce fans attending the second edition of Karibu Music festival to their unique musical style dubbed Afro-Poetry, a fusion of music with an African touch and spoken word or poetry. The festival will be held between 6 and 8 November at Mwakalenga grounds, Bagamoyo in Tanzania.
In a span of only two and a half years, H-art the band has managed to create a memorable impression on everyone who comes across their music. They have succeeded in bringing spoken word and poetry to the mainstream in the Kenyan music scene. The group is currently in contention for the most promising artist in Africa and the revelation of the African awards at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
The three day event is a mixture of music, dance and cultural exposure, bringing together artists from different parts of the world to share the same stage. With a focus on the various genres of music the festival aims at nurturing and promoting African music and culture to the world, as well as introducing other countries’ cultures to Africa, and building collaboration opportunities among all participants.
Besides H_art the band one of Africa's most popular musicians, Papa Wemba, will be among the top artists expected to perform at the festival. Inafrika Band, Jagwa Music, Jhikoman and Afrikabisa, Msafiri Zawose, Cocodo, Damian Soul are among the other musical acts lined up to perform. Riding on the theme ‘The Pride of Tanzania’, according to the marketing officer, Ernest Biseko, the festival will also conduct management and marketing seminars to musicians and music stakeholders to build their capacity and prop up the modernization of the music industry in Tanzania.
