Clubbing TV launches interactive streaming platform
French dance music culture channel Clubbing TV launched a free interactive streaming platform called Clubbing.Live on 28 November.
The minimalist live-streaming platform lets dance music fans watch various DJ sets, live performances, talk shows and 3D virtual experiences through its licensed service.
Clubbing.Live also allows users from all over the globe to chat to each other during live shows, and send audio clips and animated gifs, creating a more interactive experience.
The live platform is now open to the company‘s media partners as well as clubs and festivals, and will be available to all artists soon.
Interested users can send an email to live@clubbingtv.com. DJs, producers and performers can preregister for the service on the Clubbing Live official website.
Clubbing TV is not the first company to introduce a licensed live-streaming service this year. In April, UK-based digital audio streaming platform Mixcloud added a live-streaming feature called Mixcloud Live, which also allows creators to livestream on the licensed platform.
Music copyright on live platforms has become a bone of contention following the dramatic shift to live streaming amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with content policies preventing DJs who do not own the music rights of the tracks they play from performing their sets.
In June, live video-sharing platform Twitch also issued a number of users with retrospective claims based on past copyrighted music, which they had used in their streams. The company recently responded to these copyright issues and promised users more transparency on copyright rules moving forward.
Launched in 2009, Clubbing TV is broadcast on traditional TV and is available in East Africa via MEASAT-3a (C-band) and in parts of Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. The channel has produced and broadcast more than 1 500 hours of live streams to over 50 countries, from studios, clubs, rooftops, boat parties and prominent music festivals.
