'Music Scorer' smartphone service launched in Ghana

MTN Scorer, which is available on the MTN Radio platform, brings to users the chance to optimise use of their smartphones and enhance the device’s store of music. These opportunities for optimisation can be accessed by users with an MTN Radio service subscription for free. Newer subscribers will be charged a token sum.

"Music Scorer provides the platform for everyone to showcase their musical talent," said Noel Ganson, Acting Chief Marketing Officer MTN Ghana. "Smartphones have changed the way we do a lot of things and it is definitely changing the way audio or music is recorded. With MTN Radio Music Scorer service all you have to do is think about this song you’ve been yearning to record, get onto Music Scorer and record that beautiful song."

MTN users in Ghana can use the service by dialling MTN Radio short code 1303 and choose option 2. It is also possible to avoid MTN Radio by dialling 130330. Minimum record time is 16 seconds. The innovation follows MTN’s drive into the music market. Across the continent the company has enlisted music celebrities for campaigns, it has also become a provider of music through ringtones.

Already, MTN provides music to subscribers via MTN Radio, the immensely popular platform with over a million subscribers.
