Bez and Cobhams to ‘Make Music’ in Lagos
The event is organised by Showgear, supplier of music instruments. Set to take place at the Muri Okunola Park, the concert is slated to mark World Music Day, which is celebrated across the globe with music performances and concerts. These events are mostly free and feature several music genres. Make Music Lagos will be a part of this global one-day event, which started in France in 1982 as Fête de la Musique.
To that end, the organisers invite “everyone from professional musicians to people who have never picked up an instrument” to the Muri Okunola Park, Lagos venue as the world celebrates music.
Artists such as Timi Dakolo, Tosin Martins, Yinka Davies will be performing. They will be joined by the songstress Olufunmi and gospel artists Pita Linus and Wole Oni.
“Participating in Make Music Day is testament to our longstanding commitment to the development of the music industry in Nigeria,” says Adeola Akinyemi, Chief Operating Officer of Showgear.
“Music has been shown to strengthen social connectivity, reduce stress, lower blood pressure, stimulate memory, and is integral to a well-rounded, enjoyable life. By participating in Make Music Day, Showgear and the city of Lagos encourage every form of music making, and the use of music as a tool for community development.”
Make Music Lagos takes place on 21 June. Venue: Muri Okunola Park, Lagos. Entry is free.
