Botswana: Danielle Swagger releases debut album

The 10-track solo album is available for streaming and features songs like ‘Yelele’, ‘Rolling’, ‘Sneaky Sneaky’ and ‘La Vie est Belle’. Are You Ready? will also be available on vinyl in April. The songs on the album were written and produced by Swagger and Stanley Pivoteau.

“Are You Ready? is a combination of different aspects touching on different topics such as self-confidence, deception, determination, modern life, equality, mental health and friendships,” Swagger told Music In Africa. “It was recorded during the COVID-19 period and the music on the album is a fusion of rap, pop, R&B, rock and reggae.

“The title was inspired by several years of patience that I put into my music career to finally have a solid project that I am sharing with the world. This album is a representation of my diversity as an artist. My future hopes are to collaborate with artists from different record labels all over the world and to have a full bouquet to serve my fan base.”

The musician also credited her manager and partner Christophe Durand for playing a crucial role in her career. “All this wouldn’t have been possible without my partner and manager Christophe Durand who accompanied me from Botswana seeking greener pastures and began the evolution of a dream that seemed far-fetched but is coming to life.”

She added: “I believe everyone is bound to find at least one track they will fall in love with.”
