SA's Mafikizolo and KO to perform in Harare
South African artists Mafikizolo and renowned rapper KO are set to perform at Dance Harare 2016, to be held at Belgravia Sports Club in Harare, Zimbabwe on Saturday 27 August.
Organised by 2Kings Entertainment, the artists will share the stage with celebrated Zimbabwean musicians Winky D, Jah Prayzah, Judgement Yard, Crimson Blu, Junior Brown, Queen V, Briss Mbada, Schingy, Tgonzi, Rax and DJ Stavo.
Undoubtedly one of the biggest entertainers in southern Africa, the ‘Ndihamba Nawe’ hit-makers have become a regular feature in Zimbabwe in recent years, with their music has become popular in major cities like Harare, Bulawayo and Gweru. The last time Mafikizolo performed in Harare was in December 2015, when they shared the stage with Zambian RnB star Roberto and local artists such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Jah Prayzah and Alexio at the Harare International Conference Centre courtesy of Simmad Entertainment.
According to local news site Southern African News, 2Kings Entertainment Director and Partner Kudzai Matondo said: “Well, Mafikizolo has been coming to Zim for numerous shows, where they would just do their performance with a few of their band members supported by some background instruments, and yet still they would have a full house audience. However, this time, the SA outfit is for the first time performing with a live full band.”
Still basking in the success of their album Reunited, fans can expect Mafikizolo to perform songs from this album. Matondo added, “The duo is performing a mixture of their old and new songs from their latest album, which is being fairly appreciated in southern Africa and is regarded as a hot project by their fans in SA."
Meanwhile, top rapper KO recently released a new single, ‘KOrruption’, on 1 July and looks set to be reasing an album later this year. He is expected to perform hit hits like ‘Caracara’, ‘Wafa Wafa’ and ‘Dark or Blue’. This is not the first time KO has taken his music outside South Africa. In 2015 he toured the UK following the release of his debut solo album Skhanda Republik. In September last year he also performed in Tanzania. In March this year he was one of the first African acts to showcase at the popular South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in the U.S.
In the other news, Mi Casa will be performing for the first time in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe at the city's Amphitheatre on Friday 5 August. The show will also feature local artists Guluva 7, DJ Stavo, Alaina, Mzoe 7, Victor Bravo and others.
