Apply for free songwriters’ masterclass with Grammy-winning expert
The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is calling on professional and aspiring songwriters in East Africa to register for the second edition of The Cookout Africa – a free masterclass with Grammy Award-winning musician Vincent Berry II, which will take place via Zoom on 31 March.
Cookout Africa is a live songwriting experience where participants will get the opportunity to create a song in real time, contributing lyrics to locally created beats through a collaborative process.
Registration is open to participants from Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Reunion, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.
The Cookout Africa is part of the build-up to the Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) at the Intra-African Trade Fair 2021 (IATF 2021) from 6 to 12 September 2021. The East Africa masterclass forms part of a pan-African series facilitated by Grammy-winning musician and IATF goodwill ambassador Vincent Berry II, who has worked with big names like Beyoncé, J Cole, Akon, Sean Paul, Shaggy, Ari Lennox, Babyface, Brandy and Chris Brown.
“This collaboration with IATF2021 will enable the creative industry of the future to continue to produce fresh, conscious and emotionally available content in a sustainable and cutting-edge manner,” the organisers of Cookout Africa said.
The East Africa session will begin at 7pm EAT. There are limited slots available, and interested participants can register here.
