Call for entries: Global Competition for unsigned DJs

Winners of the competition will win different prizes, including a trip to Ibiza in Spain where they will have a unique one-on-one master class with Doorly –  a prolific U.S-based DJ who works with top acts such as Usher and Nicki Minaj.

DJ Awards is a non-profit organization known for organising the popular DJ Awards event. The ceremony is held once a year at Pacha club in Ibiza, Spain. It is reportedly the only international ceremony that solely awards DJs and honours them according to genres in which they perform. The DJs are awarded in the public vote categories from the results of an online poll. They recognize DJs from all over the world.  Last year top South African DJ Black Coffee won in the Breakthrough category. South Africa also earned a special award for Dance Nation Of The Year due to the massive growth of house music in the country.

“The theme of this year’s DJ Awards is Let’s Dance, so we are inviting the next generation of DJs to send us a mix that will make us want to do just that! We will be looking for mixes that show individuality and a passion for electronic music,” said the organisers in a statement. 

How to enter:

•  Entrants must be between the age of 18 and 25 on the date of the DJ Awards Ceremony
• Upload your mix to your Mixcloud Profile with the Bedroom DJ artwork that can be download here
• Tag your mix “Bedroom DJ 6th Edition”
• Title your mix “Bedroom DJ 6th Edition”  and your name
• Go to the competition page on Mixcloud here
• Include a short description of what makes your mix unique (max. 150 words) with your entry
•  Enter your mix by selecting from the drop-down menu of your uploads below
• The mix must be unique to this contest and must reflect the theme for this year
•  The mix must not be any longer than 30 minutes (longer mixes will be disqualified)
• Share your mix on your Facebook page tagging the DJ Awards page in the post including the hashtag #DJSLETSDANCE
• To be considered for judging mixes must gain a minimum of 50 plays
• Only unsigned and amateur DJs can enter. Those who hold residencies or are signed to a label will not be considered

• A DJ masterclass with Doorly
• An exclusive set in one of Ibiza’s iconic venues
• A one hour mix, along with an interview, to feature on the DJ Awards Radio Show that will be broadcast worldwide on Pioneer DJ Radio and later uploaded to Mixcloud, and in Ibiza and Formentera on 92.4FM
• VIP entrance for two for the DJ Awards press reception (19th edition DJ Awards ceremony and official party).
• A Pioneer DJ prize pack including the new Pioneer DDJ-RZ , one of the first professional, native controllers for rekordbox dj
