Nigeria’s Keziah Jones to perform in Rwanda
Nigerian guitarist and Blufunk forerunner Keziah Jones is set to hold a solo show in Rwanda’s capital, Kigali, on 25 September. Ahead of his performance in Rwanda, Keziah is expected to perform at the Cool Waters Jazz and Roots Festival in Nairobi, Kenya on 23 September.

Born Olufemi Sanyaolu in Lagos, Nigeria, Keziah Jones is known for a distinctive style of guitar playing, including his percussive right-hand technique.
The son of a prominent businessman in Nigeria, Keziah Jones was educated in England. As a teenager he learned to play the guitar and his music combined rock, blues, funk and African styles. His popularity peaked in Europe in the late 1990s.
He drew attention with the release of his first song, 'Free Your Soul' in 1990 which motivated him to work harder. His debut album Blufunk Is a Fact! was released in 1993. Blufunk was named after his own style of music. He has released eight albums, the last, Captain Rugged, was released in 2014.
Keziah Jones has appeared on some of the most prestigious stages and festivals around the world. He has collaborated with artists including The Rolling Stones, Blitz The Ambassador, Nneka and Asa. He is also an inventor, multimedia artist and educator.
Besides his solo show in Kigali, which is organised by Afrogroov, Keziah Jones is also expected to host a music master class on 26 September in the Western town of Gisenyi in Rwanda.
