Solace Can

Solace Can is an artist from South Africa. She studied the theory of music with Unisa acting at the andstate theatre Usuthu production, did vocal couching with different private from a young age.

ACHIVEMENTS

As a music student she entered for the vodacom 2006 vocal competition at Unisa and won the first prize for the Best up coming jazz vocalist following year 2007 she scooped another first prize with her vocal ensemble. She entered the puisano 2008-2009 competition she had to be taking on a road show to all the regions to perform. The provincial Arts Culture and Recreation booked her on thirteen performances which ended this year in March 2009.

She experienced live performances as a backing vocalist for Ladies in jazz, .Lungiswa Plaatjies, Shalusha Max a gospel artist Alcey Tivane Pastor Tshepo ,Don Stephens.

She performed at the jazz on the church square festival, Tshwane year end, Union Buildings Womens Day, The Johannesburg International Joy of Jazz, Tribute concert @Moretele Park Moshito Showcasing, East comes alive Birchwood jazz evening and Morija Cultural Festival in Lesotho .and currently she is part of the Woman in song Legacy tour .

She graced high profiled private functions such as the Renaming of the Telkom tower,Tshwane business womens gala dinner, The Mayor’s year end party, Salga strategic plan gala dinner, Department of housing gala dinner and putco vehicle driver prize giving evening.

GENRE OF MUSIC.

She describes her sound as a fusion of many styles of African music with jazz elements.
Her sound is influenced by the original era of Jazz; her band is musically versatile and can also perform more commercial sounds like Afro Jazz and Pop/Funk music. Two of her best compositions Indlela and Realotsha on the Puisano Compilation CD sampler.
She is promising and lively young artist full f energy and vibrant to set her goals on conquering both national and international jazz stages.

She is currently recording her first album which will be self titled BACkTOBASICS and is soon to come out
The performance at the Newtown junction will be to promote her music and also her brand and launching her Foundation: Rivoningo arts foundation which aims to help young kids by developing their ARTS skills and provide them with mutual support more especially those from the disadvantaged families, provide them with food parcels. Currently released an EP called MURANDZIWA.
