Olamide and Bez announce year-end concerts
Olamide Live in Concert, tagged OLIC Beast mode III, third edition of the annual concert by the Nigerian rapper, is set to hold at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos on 26 December. The organisers of the concert have promised that it would be a unique experience for fans of the prolific rapper, who is one of the most talked about artists in the Nigerian music industry.
The YBNL label boss who has released an album every year since his debut Rapsodi (2011) is also set to release his sixth studio album, The Glory, on the day of the concert. The artist has promised that the album will be a collection of lyrical odes to the street. This proverbial streets has been both canvas and brush for Olamide, as well as his first audience. His songs have taken street language, codified them into the larger part of the pop culture and in the process contributed more to street lingo.
By his own standards, this year has been a relatively muted year for Olamide but songs like 'Who You Epp' and 'Abule Sowo' have been unmissable in the crowded Nigerian hip hop scene.
Bez, the Nigerian alternative soul singer, has also announced the date for his concert, Bez Live. The concert will hold at the Muri Okunlola park, Lagos on 24 December 2016. A forty percent discount has been announced for fans who purchase early-bird tickets to the concert that promises to be electrifying as Bez has shown to be a consistently good live performer of his blend of soul, rock, jazz and R&B.
The alternative soul artist has also been generating buzz around his sophomore album titled Gbayi Child, a 13-track release featuring Simi and Yemi Alade. Bez’s rise to stardom has been one of the cornerstone rises for alternative music in Nigeria, with his debut album, Super Sun, listed as one of the top three world music albums by the Boston Globe in 2011.
He has entertained crowds at festivals held across in the country, including a performance two months ago at the Felabration 2016. Other artists to join Bez an the concert will be announced soon. A collaboration with Yemi Alade, 'You Suppose Know (Remix)' was released days ago.
