Justin Bieber announces SA tour dates
Justin Bieber has announced dates for the South African leg of his ‘Purpose World Tour’.
In a show presented by Discovery, Bieber will perform in Johannesburg at the FNB Stadium on Sunday 14 May. On Wednesday 17 May, the star will grace the Cape Town Stadium. The Purpose World Tour is the third worldwide tour by Canadian singer Justin Bieber. It is in support of his fourth studio album Purpose (2015).
Fans can expect to see live performances of the hit singles ‘What Do You Mean’, ‘Sorry’, and ‘Love Yourself’ all of which reached the top spot on the Billboard Top 200 making Bieber the first male artist in almost a decade to have three number ones from a single album.
Bieber gained global fame when he was 13. From performing covers of R&B hits in his Ontario, Canada home on YouTube to becoming an international pop idol, the ‘Baby’ singer has flown to fame. Mentored by US R&B giant Usher and driven by the one of the most followed accounts on Twitter, and releasing several hits, Bieber has gained millions of fans worldwide.
Bieber has sold over 100 million albums and has dominated pop culture and social media. His last album, Purpose, sold 3.1 million copies and his current global tour has smashed box office records.
Bieber last performed in South Africa in May 2013. At the time, more than 50,000 tickets for the Cape Town Believe tour were said to have sold in less than an hour.
According to promoters Big Concerts, fans younger than 14 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. There is also an age restriction on field standing tickets (Front Zone Standing East/West and General Admission East/West)—but no one under 12 years and shorter than 1.2 metres will be permitted onto the field.
Tickets for the shows go on sale on 15 December and can be purchased on the Big Concerts website and Computicket from R410 – R1540 in Johannesburg and R350 – R1260 in Cape Town. Discovery cardholders get exclusive access to tickets from Tuesday, 13 December. VIP packages are also available from Computicket and also via email bookings@sail.co.za or dial +27825608993.
