Call for applications: Big Hit Music competition for producers
Hybe subsidiary Big Hit Music is calling on pop producers around the world to submit demos for its 2021 Next New Creator (NCC) project for a chance to showcase their potential and talent on a global stage.
Producers must specialise in pop music and anyone can apply regardless of age, education or experience. Applicants above the age of 14 will be considered.
Big Hit Music says it is looking for a producer ready to step onto the global music industry stage. Since the NNC project was first created in 2016, Big Hit has discovered producers both in South Korea and overseas and has “provided opportunities for them to present their musical prowess”. The label now manages musicians such as K-pop sensation BTS and soloist Lee Hyun.
Who can apply?
- Producers who specialise in pop music.
- Both individual and team submissions are welcome.
- Preference will be given to producers with an excellent understanding of the global music market and trends.
How to apply
- Submit an online application on the NNC website.
- Applicants are advised to submit demos that would be sufficiently competitive in the global music market with potential to rank in the global major music charts.
- Applicants must submit two to five demos: a complete track with completed melody and lyrics or only the track (MP3 files preferred).
- If submitting lyrics, PDF files are preferred.
- Please list the credits of the demo files (composer, lyricist, arranger, guide vocal, sample use, etc.).
- Mobile DAW are not accepted.
- For teams, each team member must submit his or her own application separately.
The deadline for submissions is 16 June at 11am CAT.
Evaluation process
After submission ends, applicants who have passed an internal screen process by Big Hit Music producers will be contacted separately and will proceed to the main competition to select the winner or the winning team.
There may be a song camp evaluation during the main competition. There may be additional delays during the evaluation period due to internal reasons.
Prize
Grand prize of 5 million South Korean won (about $4 400) will be awarded to the top individual or team. If receiving the prize into an oversea bank account, it will be remitted according to the exchange rate of the day of the announcement.
Depending on the entries, Big Hit says a final winner may not be selected. Applicants may have the opportunity to become an in-house producer, depending on the evaluation results.
