SoundCloud launches artist talk series on Clubhouse
The weekly series kicks off on 26 May and will run through to 21 July. It will be hosted by musician and former MTV host Jasmine Solano who will be joined by First on SoundCloud 2021 artists starting with SoFaygo, followed by Charmaine, Lourdiz, Payday, Otis Kane, Sofia Mills, Ela Minus, Pa Salieu and Kid Quill.
Clubhouse Sessions is part of SoundCloud’s 2021 accelerator programme. SoundCloud says the artists will be allowed to invite their collaborators, friends and fans each week to join in on the live conversations and connect with musicians, influencers, entrepreneurs and industry leaders.
Each episode will be available to fans on the artists’ SoundCloud profiles after the event. The starting times will be announced each week on SoundCloud’s social media and on the First on SoundCloud editorial platform.
The First on SoundCloud accelerator programme was launched in March and focuses on investment in artist careers and generating long-term success for musicians. The programme originally launched with Trippie Redd and Rico Nasty, who took to Instagram Live to connect with First on SoundCloud artists SoFaygo and Charmaine.
“I’m so excited to connect live with these First on SoundCloud artists, who represent such a diverse range of backgrounds, identities and sounds,” Solano said. “I’m really looking forward to the amazing conversations and, as a fan myself, getting to know them better. I know first-hand as an artist the importance of sharing your story authentically, and that’s what I will aim to bring forward in this – real, raw conversations that give fans a true picture of each artist and the journey it took for them to arrive where they’re at now.”
SoundCloud director of editorial Leon Sherman said: “The drop-in, all-talk experience on Clubhouse, and SoundCloud’s dynamic fan communities, both shape today’s culture. We’re bringing these influential worlds together, the wider community and the artists’ day ones, to go deep into the creative process and help build long-term career success.”
Meanwhile, SoundCloud has signed its first A&R partnerships with T-Pain’s label, Nappy Boy Entertainment, CAD Management and Linda Perry, among others. The company’s Repost artist service will provide customised support to select music companies through a number of new A&R partnerships.
