Sarkodie releases No Pressure album
Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie today released his new album No Pressure. The 16-track collection is available for streaming and download on all major digital service providers.
The record was released on Sarkodie’s independent label SarkCess Music and creative services company Eagle Plug. It was preceded by the singles ‘No Fugazy’, ‘Coachella’ and ‘Vibration’.
The LP arrives two years after his last album Black Love and is the artist’s seventh full-length album since 2005. Sonically, the work caters predominantly to hip hop listeners, and thematically it addresses subjects not unfamiliar to the rapper: money, love and his status as the leader of the pack.
No Pressure was executively produced by Sarkodie himself and KJ Spio. It features fellow Ghanaian acts Medikal, MOG Music, Kwesi Arthur, Benerl and Darkovibes, Nigerian singer Oxlade and South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest. The rest are Harmonize (Tanzania), Gigs (UK), and Vic Mensa (US) and Wale (US).
The album was scheduled to drop on 9 July, but the rapper delayed its release citing “a hold-up clearing some samples.”
“I know how excited you all are for my new album No Pressure,” Sarkodie said. “That feeling inspired me every day in the studio to push my songwriting to the limits. I’ve never been more determined to make an album that you’ll love deeply.”
