Voting opens for Forty Under 40 Awards in Ghana
The organisers of the Forty Under 40 Awards in Ghana have announced that the public can vote for their favourite nominees from 30 August.
Interested voters can dial the short code *447*4040# across local networks and follow the prompts.
Now in its fifth edition, the annual Forty Under 40 Awards are the brainchild of Xodus Communications. It recognises and celebrates young Ghanaian leaders in various sectors including music and arts, banking and finance, tech and innovation, media, agriculture, fashion, health and wellness, among others.
The announcement follows the closing of nominations on 24 August and the unveiling of more than 100 nominees including Afropop singer Becca and TV presenter Deloris ‘Delay’ Frimpong Manso.
The final 40 participants will be announced on 1 September by a board comprising Prof David Atta Peters, Prof Essilfie Conduah, Dr Ato Conduah and Dr Ken Kwaku. The selection will be based on board and public votes.
“We believe that in putting the spotlight on these young achievers, it will not only celebrate them but also build a strong platform for them by giving a voice and opportunities to the next generation of industry pacesetters while building a positive attitude in our youth to strive for excellence at a tender age,” the organisers said.
Ghanaian musicians including rapper Sarkodie and reggae-dancehall act Stonebwoy were previously recognised by the awards platform for their efforts to promote the country’s art and entertainment industry globally.
The main event will be held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra on 8 October. Like previous editions, the event will be heralded by the Under 40 Champions Summit, an educational initiative for the finalists that is expected to bring together more than 100 business leaders.
