SA: Bridges For Music to host artist accelerator programme
The Bridges For Music NPO in South Africa will host a talent accelerator programme at Flame Studios on Constitution Hill in Johannesburg from 29 September to 1 October.
The BridgeFire accelerator programme, in partnership with Nando’s and Flame Studios, seeks to connect and support 10 upcoming artists chosen from across the country. The artists are Kallo, Wenawedwa, Massh, TO StarQuality, Phodii, Desiree, Khan Khalii, Zoey M, Rudy Da DJ and Yamz.
“From Master KG to DJ Lag, Elaine and Msaki, it’s clear that South Africa has the secret sauce when it comes to making great music, but so few have the knowledge to define success, let alone navigate the path toward success of their own kind,” music journalist and media strategist Shiba Melissa Mazaza said.
“At BridgeFire we aim to meet these artists where they are, to help them embrace their uniqueness and gain some savvy in both professional and personal life, while showing the world what the future of music in South Africa could be.”
The participants will engage with high-profile industry mentors from across the entertainment industry. Mentors who will speak and run masterclasses at BridgeFire include Simon Dunmore, Sef Kombo, DJ Shimza, Jarrad Treger, Floyd Lavine, FKA Mash, Msaki, Jackie Queens, Zakes Bantwini, Blanka Mazimela, Sun-El Musican, Elene Du Toit, Katlego Malatji and DJ Kenzhero.
The programme will feature the Reimagining Myself personal transformation workshop by local author Ntsikelelo Mzibomvu based on his book of the same name, with Mazaza lassoing the lot together as BridgeFire head mentor. Also embedded in the programme are a string of sessions on mindfulness and mental health, brand and identity building, and live performance.
