SA: Up We Go Mzansi announces winners
The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture in South Africa’s Advocates for Social Cohesion Programme has announced the winners of its Up We Go Mzansi competition.
The announcement follows an open call to creatives in the fields of music, dance, art and spoken word by the organisation in May, after which voting took place from 3 to 20 September. The winners will receive R25 000, R12 000 and R5000, respectively.
The programme was designed to promote teamwork and motivate people to commit to the vision of moving South Africa upwards together by activating their power to make a positive difference for themselves and others.
“It was so inspirational to see the collaboration of young artists, using their art of choice to inspire the people of South Africa to come together to move our beloved country upwards,” Advocates for Social Cohesion Programme’s Eleni Ratheb said. “Their faces lit up as they stepped into the professional recording studios, and their natural talent and depth of spirit shone brightly. Their creations are a shining light to us as a nation, urging us to seek and nurture the incredible potential in each of us, so that we can all use our personal power and collective strengths to the fullest, and move South Africa upwards together.”
