Landr launches Chromatic virtual artist-generated instrument
Sampling and mastering platform Landr this week announced that it had launched a new subscription-based virtual instrument app called Chromatic.
The instrument includes a sound set library created by well-known artists, session players and producers, and will be updated every week.
The sets are grouped based on artist, colour and mood. They offer access to playable instrument loops, vocal hooks, one-shots, and soundscapes, as well as the back story to creating each sample.
“As an instrument, Chromatic lets you explore, play, and manipulate original sounds created by artists and producers, making them your own,” Landr CEO Pascal Pilon said. “We’ve developed Chromatic to bring the human element back into your virtual studio, a unique way to collaborate and engage with the creators of your favourite tracks and musical styles.”
Chromatic also offers bespoke artwork for each artist, with a bio and links to their Landr profile and social media accounts for users who want to connect or collaborate.
It is expected to add royalty splits for creators who are contributing sound sets and those who utilise them in their works, generating potential new revenue streams for artists each month based on downloads of their sound sets. Artists can also use the tool to expand their brands to engage with the thriving creator community in a new way.
Chromatic is available as a free download, with access to the full library of royalty-free sound sets at $9.99 per month. The tool is also available via the All Access Pass subscription tier, which will set users back $9.99 per month for the first six months and $14.99 thereafter.
Chromatic adds to the platform’s robust offerings of creator tools. All Access Pass gives users free rein across all of the Landr services, including an extensive royalty-free sample library, AI-assisted mastering, music distribution, Sessions collaboration service.
Pilon added: “We want to set the standard for adding value to creator tools for music. Landr wants to be a guide in assisting music makers to get projects done, and that also means creating inspiring, beautiful places they can go when they are stuck creatively. Chromatic will inspire artists to find their own creative voices, giving them a new way to reach each other, and let them play and use the sounds they love in the process.”
