Call for submissions: Beat Battle Contest in the US
American music sampling service Tracklib is inviting beatmakers from around the world to submit samples to the Beat Battle Contest.
The contest is in collaboration with Native Instruments and Timbaland’s global marketplace Beatclub. Contestants stand a chance to win a share of Native Instruments products, Beatclub subscriptions and access to Tracklib’s library, which is home to many commercial recordings and stems globally.
How it works
- The competition is based on stems and samples from Grammy Award winner Frank Dukes’ Kingsway Music Library.
- Contestants can download a Frank Dukes instrumental and upload their tracks here. Tracklib has given participants access to ‘Art Church’, an exclusive sample from the Kingsway Music Library, as well as its full stems.
- The Beatclub team will select the top 10 tracks and Timbaland will announce the winners live on Twitch.
To qualify, contestants must:
- Have legal rights to all sounds used in their composition.
- Use at least one of the samples provided.
- Be prepared to show project files to prove original sounds and presets were used.
Note: One entry is allowed per person. Entrants can upload improved versions by pressing the gear icon next to their track’s title.
Prizes
- Winners will receive a bevy of Native Instruments products as well as year-long subscriptions to Beatclub and to Tracklib’s huge pre-cleared library.
The submission deadline is 17 December 2021.

Dukes has worked with the highest echelon of songwriters, artists and musicians, lending his touch to a number of neo-classics like Drake’s ‘0 to 100’, Post Malone’s ‘Beerbongs & Bentleys’ and Travis Scott’s ‘Astroworld’, among many other hits.
Beatclub, meanwhile, allows creators to keep their master and publishing rights, 100% of their revenue from beat sales or licensing and gives them the ability to customise their licenses, allowing the creator to set their own terms and fees.
“At Beatclub we always look to support the music creator in as many ways as possible,” Beatclub head of business development Daniel Glogower said. “Tracklib has taken the idea of sample music creation into the digital future, so it only makes sense to partner together on this activation.”
Tracklib CEO Pär Almqvist said: “It’s exciting to bring together some of the most innovative and inspiring players in creator tools and sounds, as well as a legendary producer like Timbaland in a cool contest like this. We hope our work together will energise the producer community to make the most of what we all have to offer.”
