Call for applications: Artist residency in the US
American artist residency platform MacDowell is calling on interested artists to apply for its fellowship, which will take place at its studios in Peterborough, New Hampshire, from September to February 2023.
The call is open to artists with a professional standing in their fields, as well as emerging musicians from around the globe.
MacDowell offers promising creative individuals an inspiring environment to produce enduring works. About 300 artists across seven disciplines are awarded fellowships each year, and the sole criterion for acceptance is artistic excellence. A fellowship consists of exclusive use of a private studio, accommodations, and three meals a day for two to six weeks.
Who can apply?
MacDowell encourages artists from all backgrounds and countries in the following disciplines to apply:
- Music composition (any musical styles will be considered including hip hop, classical, post-modern jazz and electronica).
- Film/video arts.
- Interdisciplinary arts.
- Literature.
- Theatre.
- Architecture.
- Visual arts.
Note: Any applicant whose proposed project does not fall clearly within one of these artistic disciplines should contact the admissions department for guidance.
How to apply
- Application submissions must be in English
- Artists may apply once in a two-year period.
- Applicants cannot be enrolled in a degree-seeking programme during the residency season (September 2022 to February 2023).
