South Africa mourns DJ Citi Lyts
South African rapper and music producer DJ Citi Lyts died after he was shot in the early hours of Monday morning in Soweto, Johannesburg. He was 32.
DJ Citi Lyts was the younger brother of the late well-known rapper ProKid, who died in 2018. According to local media, DJ Citi Lyts was with friends when the incident occurred. His death was confirmed by local police, who said they had launched a manhunt for the suspects.
Speaking to local media, family spokesperson Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini said: “They were ambushed and ... that is the best way to put it. They coupled up: four guys came out of nowhere, stopped them and shot them in their heads. They fought as much as they could, and the guys shot them. I can’t confirm how many they were in the car yet, but this happened at Dube, Soweto.”
