SA: Rehsa inks Def Jam Africa deal
South African R&B singer and dancer Rehsa has signed a record deal with Def Jam Africa.
He joins Boity, Cassper Nyovest, Nadia Nakai, Nasty C, Tellaman, Stogie T and Vector, among others, who are all signed to the Universal Music Group imprint.
The announcement comes ahead of his single ‘Gone’, which is set for release this week. The label says the track is a love song with a twist to showcase Rehsa’s vocal range and dance abilities.
“Proud to finally announce that I am now a part of the Def Jam Africa and United Music Group South Africa family,” Rehsa wrote on social media. “I am super excited to see what this new journey holds for me. This is actually a dream come true. Two years ago I wanted to be one of the artists signed to Def Jam Africa. I spoke it into existence and now here we are. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen.”
Def Jam Africa said: “We're super excited to announce new R&B sensation, singer and songwriter, and world-class dancer Rehsa is officially a part of the Def Jam Africa family. Help us welcome him.”
Rehsa is known for his strong vocal melodies and exceptional dancing skills, which caught the eye of American singer and dancer Normani after he posted a cover of her single ‘Wild Side’ on social media. He draws inspiration from Chris Brown and Michael Jackson. Some of his songs include ‘Into You’, ‘Cry for Me’ and ‘Nosutarujia’.
