Call for proposals: WOMEX 2022 in Portugal
Artists, bands, DJs, music producers, filmmakers, industry experts and visionaries from around the world are invited to submit proposals for the 28th edition of WOMEX in Lisbon, Portugal, from 19 to 23 October.
Proposals should be made in the following categories: Showcase, Club, Film, and Conference and Mentoring before 18 March.
Showcase
Successful applicants will get the opportunity to perform at the premier global music showcase event in front of international concert and festival bookers, tour promoters and venues, labels, distributors, journalists and industry professionals.
Artists who seek to apply to showcase at WOMEX can submit their proposals here.
Club
WOMEX presents a specialised Club Summit, showcasing DJs and producers from all musical backgrounds and global electronic music scenes.
Interested DJs and producers of any genre, medium and background can submit their proposals here and bring their sounds to the world.
Film
WOMEX Film provides a platform to connect the international music and film communities by presenting documentaries that portray music, movements and histories from across the world.
Filmmakers can submit their proposals here to have their feature, medium-length or short film shown at WOMEX.
Conference and Mentoring
WOMEX is seeking proposals from representatives from every sector, to move the industry forward by presenting their visions, mapping out ideas or sharing hands-on expertise.
Industry players can submit their proposals here for an opportunity to discuss their viewpoints and network with peers.
“We recognise that there are ongoing challenges and we are doing our best to support the global music community,” WOMEX said. “WOMEX will take place as an in-person event organised once again together with AMG Music from Portugal, as the main local partner. WOMEX explicitly welcomes proposals from all backgrounds and encourages submissions, especially those that increase the international music scene’s diversity, be it of culture, region, gender, styles, performance tradition, and more.”
WOMEX is one of the most important meetings in the global music scene. Its musical spectrum ranges from traditional to the new global local underground – embracing folk, roots, jazz, local and diaspora cultures as much as urban and electronic sounds from all over the globe.
