Call for registration: Music Producer Empowerment workshop in Nigeria
Registration is currently ongoing for this year’s Music Producer Empowerment workshop in Lagos, Nigeria, on 20 August.
The initiative, put together by OY Productions, seeks to equip both emerging and established music producers with the necessary tools to navigate the industry.
The workshop will be facilitated by producer, sound engineer, music instructor, and OY Productions founder and CEO Odunayo Yusuf, who boasts many years of experience in the industry and is renowned for his work with artists like Olamide, Awilo Longomba, Patoranking, Stonebwoy and Wande Coal.
He will be joined by fellow producers Masterkraft and Rexie, music lawyer Akinyemi Ayinoluwa and a host of other industry experts who will take participants through music production, mixing and mastering. Attendees will also benefit from free sample packs and music equipment.
Speaking to Music In Africa, Yusuf said the workshop and activities designed around it were born from a “passion to see more music producers become successful and self-sufficient from their skills/creative gifts.”
He added that this year’s edition will build on the successes recorded in 2021, which allowed participants to elevate their music careers.
“The attendees are coming to learn from very experienced hands in the music industry,” Yusuf said. “Over time, you’ll realise the application of the lessons they will take home will affect their approach to music production and ultimately the quality of music that will fill our airwaves.”
On how he hopes initiatives like this will affect Nigeria’s music scene, Yusuf expressed a desire to see “a spark and encourage more people to take on similar initiatives or even approach me for a partnership to make it bigger because the vision requires input from more people.”
Registration for online attendance can be completed via this link until the eve of the event.
