Nigeria: Adekunle Gold and Audiomack announce open verse challenge winners
Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has announced the winners of his recently concluded #My5StarStory open verse challenge, with Genie KG coming out tops.
Held in partnership with streaming platform Audiomack, the competition invited up-and-coming musicians to render an original verse to the musician’s latest single ‘5 Star’.
It sought to provide a platform and support the growth and development of upcoming artists across Africa, offering them a prize package including home studio gear, a top 20 trending placement on Audiomack, an editorial playlist add on Audiomack and a push notification to their winning entry to all of their Audiomack followers.
More than 800 entries were sent from across the continent during the contest’s entry period. Chris Tonye and Eddievybes emerged as the first and second runners-up, respectively.
“Was so hard to pick a winner for #My5StarStory open verse challenge, so I and Audiomack picked three winners,” Adekunle Gold said. “The first winner wins new home studio gear and marketing support, while the runners-up win marketing support. Thank you to everyone that took the time to drop their vibes. ‘5 Star’ is our song.”
Audiomack Africa director of brand and media partnerships Charlotte Bwana said: “Adekunle Gold is an exceptional artist and being able to collaborate with him to support upcoming African talent has been exciting.
“The 5 Star challenge further reiterates Audiomack’s commitment to supporting and promoting talent within and beyond the continent and we look forward to facilitating similar partnerships and initiatives that achieve this goal.”
Meanwhile, Adekunle Gold this week released the video for ‘5 Star’. Its production was helmed by in-demand director TG Omori.
