Ghana’s Sarkodie shares first single off forthcoming Jamz album
Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie today released a new single titled ‘Labadi’ ahead of his upcoming Jamz album. The song is available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms.
‘Labadi’ guests regular collaborator King Promise, with production by Nigeria’s DJ Coublon, who also worked on the rapper’s ‘Non-Living Thing’. Its attendant video, released the same day, was directed by Capone, and features lavish ocean scenes and a vacation feel.
Set to a blend of mid-tempo Afrobeats and amapiano, the track celebrates life and beautiful people.
“‘Labadi’ is a gateway song [to] fun times with loved ones,” Sarkodie said. “I was inspired by the idea of a boat party with some good people taking time off to enjoy life on the ocean.
“I want the fans to be in a happy place when listening to this record. The melodies in the song are intended to bring out the positive vibrations in us. You just have to put all your worries away for a second and enjoy “Labadi’.”
A decorated hip hop act of international repute, Sarkodie is behind a consistent stream of hit songs and well-received collections. When it arrives on 11 November, Jamz will be Sarkodie’s eighth album and follow-up to 2021’s No Pressure.
The rapper likened the impending LP to “listening to your favourite DJ’s playlist on the radio, club, party or any fun event.”
He added: “Ceatively, I’m at a happy place enjoying life with the people I love and that creeps into my writing.”
