African artists to play FIFA Fan Festival in Qatar
Nigerian dancehall act Patoranking and Egyptian singer Hassan Shakosh will perform at the FIFA Fan Festival in Qatar next month.
The programme forms part of activities curated around the 2022 World Cup, which will take place from 20 November to 18 December.
Patoranking and Hassan Shakosh boast well-received pop catalogues that reflect unique and uplifting themes. They will mount the stage at the Al Bidda Park in the heart of Doha on 28 November and 12 December, respectively.
The African acts join other confirmed artists, including Dubai-based Arabic music DJ Aseel, Congolese-French rapper and producer Gims, Jamaican reggae singer Julian Marley and Kuwaiti Miami Band.
The FIFA Fan Festival will host over 100 hours of live music and will be open every day of the tournament.
More headliners are expected to be announced in the coming days. Organisers say the showcasing acts will take global audiences through a “true celebration and vibrant festival of culture.”
On 16 October, ‘Buga’ man Kizz Daniel hinted via Twitter that he would be performing at the tournament. “And the Lord said see you in Qatar,” he posted, referencing an earlier Tweet he published expressing a desire to play the widely popular single at the tournament.
Aside from musical performances, the Fan Festival will feature a food court, unique football matches with FIFA Legends, a dedicated football exhibition as well as interactive physical and digital football gaming stations for fans.
Ghana, Cameroon, Morocco, Senegal and Tunisia constitute Africa’s contingent at the Qatar World Cup.
