Adekunle Gold shares Ogaranya single ahead of new album
Nigerian Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold has released a new single titled ‘Ogaranya’.
The song, which heralds his forthcoming landmark fifth album Tequila Ever After, is available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms.
The party-themed ‘Ogaranya’ arrives on the heels of a three-track pack Tio Tequila released in May, comprising ‘Party No Dey Stop’ featuring Zinoleesky, ‘Do You Mind’ and ‘Omo Eko’.
“I recorded over 60 songs and we picked the best 18 for you,” Adekunle Gold announced to his 9.3 million Instagram followers on Thursday. “I can’t wait for you to hear it. So much work has gone into creating this masterpiece.”
Adekunle Gold, who has also shared the cover art and tracklist for Tequila Ever After, has revealed that the album was inspired by a shot of the liquor, which traces its origins to Mexico. This inspired him to record what he described as the best songs he ever made, he said.
The LP is set for release on 28 July via Def Jam, which welcomed the artist back in March. Following its arrival, Adekunle will be on the road in venues across the US and Canada from 22 September to 22 October in support of the album.
A respected singer-songwriter and leading name in Afrobeats circles, Adekunle Gold is known for his impressive fusion of sounds from traditional highlife and fuji influences to more contemporary pulses like Afro-pop and amapiano. His other albums include Gold (2016), About 30 (2018), Afro Pop Vol. 1 (2020) and Catch Me If You Can (2022).
