Call for applications: Mozambican-German Cultural Centre director
The Mozambican-German Cultural Centre (CCMA) in Maputo is looking for a highly motivated and talented professional to fill the position of director.
The position is designed for candidates who are passionate about culture and language, have proven management experience, have knowledge of the German language and wish to work in a dynamic and innovative environment.
CCMA is a non-profit organisation whose focus is to promote exchanges between Mozambique and Germany in cultural areas and the teaching of German and Mozambican languages.
Functions
As director of the cultural centre, the candidate will be required to perform the following functions:
- Represent CCMA at all levels of public interaction.
- Secure the funds and manage the annual budget transparently.
- Ensure effective and efficient operation of the centre.
- Conception, coordination and evaluation of cultural activities.
- Cooperation with other cultural institutions and partners.
- Network expansion and fundraising.
- Public relations.
Tasks
- Managing a team of around 10 employees at the centre and ensuring effective team performance.
- Prepare reports and summaries for the quarterly meetings of board of directors and the annual general assembly.
- Actively participate in meetings and events of the EUNIC Cluster and other networks of partners.
- Oversee the language and culture departments.
- Supervise administration.
- Produce reports – analysis of activities, trends and costs.
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
- Ensure proper filing of documents and maintenance of the system.
Candidate profile
The candidate must:
- Have experience in managing an international institution and have excellent in public relations, cross-cultural communication and analytics skills.
- Possess a master's degree in human sciences or economics, or similar.
- Have experience managing funds from German or other public funders.
- Have experience in international institutions, including the production of reports and files.
- Have experience in cultural management and knowledge of the national and regional cultural space.
- Have the ability to lead, manage and motivate an intercultural team.
- Have excellent knowledge of Portuguese and English, with a knowledge of German.
- Be Mozambican or can work with authorisation in Mozambique.
- Ability to work in an environment of regular stress, ability to work independently, flexibility and willingness to work outside normal hours.
