Kenya: Bien latest artist to appear on COLORSxSTUDIO
Bien-Aimé Alusa, better known by his stage name Bien, is the latest artist to appear on A Colors Show as part of a partnership between Spotify and COLORSxSTUDIOS seeking to showcase the very best of Kenyan R&B.
Performing ‘True Love’, a single from his upcoming debut solo album, Alusa Why Are You Topless?, against a green monochromatic background, Bien bears down on vocals, as he waxes lyrical about finding his soulmate.
Bien’s A Colors Show appearance is the fourth one in a series of performances featuring Kenyan artists, and although his track is more uptempo, it sticks to the theme of love present throughout the other three performances by Lisa Oduor-Noah, Xenia Manasseh and Karun.
Sharing his observation on Kenyan R&B, Bien said: “The [R&B] scene in Kenya is ever growing, evergreen and ever beautiful and I can’t wait to see what it holds.”
Before Bien, Karun became the third artist to appear on A Colors Show. Karun, a singer, songwriter and producer credits her dad for her love of music, and describes her musical style as soulful at the core, even as she dabbles in other genres. This soulful and meditative style is fully on display for her A Colors Show performance, where she performs ‘Only You’, an ode to a past love.
“I hope to keep discovering who I am and just being fiercely myself in whatever medium that is, and so music is what I’m doing right now, and I hope it kind of just gets a bit more powerful,” Karun said.
This partnership with COLORSxSTUDIOS falls under Tantalizers, Spotify’s flagship Afro-R&B playlist, and also the home to all the Colors shows, with Karun currently on the cover.
COLORSxSTUDIOS is a German music performance platform, famous for its minimalist aesthetic videos and has earned over five million subscribers on its YouTube channel since its inception in February 2016. It aims to spotlight distinctive new artists and original sounds that resonate across the globe.
