Ghana: Byno Ayoni wins Season 12 of Mentor reality show
Ghanaian singer Byno Ayoni was crowned the winner of Season 12 of TV3’s Mentor music reality show at the weekend.
The competition, which ran for 13 weeks, offers a springboard for undiscovered Ghanaian musicians to launch their careers.
Byno, a frontrunner throughout the show, notably for his reggae-dancehall renditions, beat fellow finalists L Boat, Majesti, 6ca and Hy5, who finished fifth, fourth, third and second, respectively. For his final song of the competition, Byno performed an original composition titled ‘Exaltation’, which chronicles his journey to the limelight.
Byno took home an assortment of prizes, including GHS15 000 in cash, a recording deal valued at GHS40 000, airtime worth GHS50 000 from TV3, GHS10 000 worth of insurance cover, and other rewards.
“Gratitude fills my heart for your unwavering support that has brought me this far,” said Byno ahead of his big night. “I humbly ask for your continued support.”
“Byno didn’t just sing his way to the #MentorXII throne,” organisers said. “He redefined what it means to shine on that stage. His unique sound, his bold choices, his sheer talent – a true champion.”
Past winners of the competition include last year’s winner Too Spyce, Lynx signee DSL, Kweku Bany and Optional King.
